It is both a historical symbol and the commercial center of the city. Construction of Jiefangbei began in 1940 as the &#8220;Monument to the Victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,&#8221; and it was officially completed in 1947. After the liberation of Chongqing in 1949, it was renamed the &#8220;People&#8217;s Liberation Monument,&#8221; symbolizing the great victory of the people&#8217;s liberation. Standing at 27.5 meters tall, the monument features an octagonal columnar structure with a solemn and elegant appearance, blending traditional Chinese architectural styles with modern elements.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Jiefangbei is not only a historical and cultural symbol of Chongqing but also the core of the city&#8217;s most bustling commercial pedestrian street.
