Located next to the Guanyin Bridge Pedestrian Street in Jiangbei District, Chongqing, the Beicang Cultural and Creative District is one of the representative cultural and creative demonstration projects of Chongqing’s “urban renewal” project.
Originally built in the 1960s, it was the Chongqing Jiangbei Textile Warehouse, an important logistics hub for the textile industry in Chongqing. At the end of the 1990s, with corporate restructuring and regional development and transformation, these warehouses were preserved and transformed into a cultural and creative district.
During the transformation process, the Beicang Cultural and Creative District basically retained the original architectural style, only carrying out simple repairs and cleaning of the exterior facades, fully respecting history and preserving traditional marks. The district integrates a variety of business formats, including urban libraries, lifestyle aesthetics halls, cultural coffee shops, art experience spaces, creative restaurants, makerspaces, and community buildings. It offers both the tranquility of urban transitional spaces and the vitality of young commercial entities, making it a popular destination for young people.
